Situated in the old part of the village of Fornos, “Casa Morais” welcomes you!

The village of Fornos lies about 5km away of Coimbra, an ancient city in the centre of Portugal. This village was always crossed by important roads going in different directions – north to south, west to east. From a big road junction, recently built, higways and country roads spread in all directions.

This priviliged geographic situation led, in old times, to the settlement of a legendary number of structures for lodging and feeding travelers - the so called “estalagens” (ins).

According to historical sources, five ”estalagens” were available in “the big village of Fornos”, by the end of the 16th century and according to oral tradition one of those was eventually the present “Casa Morais” .

It was precisely this house that was rebuitt in the 21st century for rural tourism hoping that it will go on telling its adventures and stories for ever and ever.
